Result!-old post that's just published!

It turns out the central heating in the hotel is broken...in the coldest month of the year!! Housekeeping brought us a heater thank goodness as its only 13 degrees now, although it feels less. Wish we'd thought of that sooner as we've spent a very cold two nights!
